ALEX Eala fought her way into the main draw of the Guadalajara Open Tennis Championships on Monday in Mexico.
The 19-year-old Eala advanced after she disposed of Samantha Murray Sharan of Great Britain, 6-4, 6-2, in the third qualifying round.
It was the second time that the world no. 147 Eala has reached the main draw of an event in Mexico.
Last week, Eala reached the round of 16 of the Guadalajara 125 Open after turning US netter Victoria Hu, 3-67-626-4, picking up $2,000 for her feat.
In beating Sharan, Eala will have a first-round clash with sixth seed Marie Bouzkova of the Czech Republic.
The 26-year-old Bouzkova will be a challenge for Eala, with her WTA ranking of No. 45.
The main draw will have 2017 French Open champion Jelena Ostapenko in the mix, with 2017 US Open winner Sloane Stephens.
Also in the roster is former world No. 1 and two-time Australian Open champion Victoria Azarenka, along with two-time French Open winner Caroline Garcia, and 2022 Australian Open finalist Danielle Collins.
