Indonesian Navy vessel to dock in Manila

An Indonesian training ship will arrive in Manila on Tuesday to reaffirm its nation’s commitments to various maritime agreements with the Philippines.

KRI Bima Suci will dock at the Port of Manila until October 18 as part of the year-long celebration commemorating the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Indonesia and the Philippines.

Bima Suci is a barque, which is a vessel with more than three masts, and serves as a training vessel for the Indonesian Navy.

Her maiden voyage took place in September 2017, sailing from Spain to Indonesia.

According to Adus Widjojo, the Indonesian Ambassador to the Philippines, Bima Suci is also known as the Floating Ambassador of Goodwill.

The ship sails from one port to another across the globe “to spread peace, strengthen friendship, and promote Indonesian culture,” Widjojo stated.

“Being both archipelagic states and sharing the same maritime border, Indonesia and the Philippines are strongly committed to honoring all their undertakings, including their shared maritime agreement,” he added.
