MMDA, Marikina start rehab of Barangay park

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) and the local government of Marikina City started the rehabilitation and improvement of the recreational park in Barangay Jesus Dela Peña, Marikina City.

The project was proposed by Rep. Marjorie Ann Teodoro to create a public space in the community and is targeted to be completed in December.

MMDA chairman Don Artes said redeveloping parks aims to decrease urban decay, reduce urban heat effects, and provide safe and clean areas for family events and wellness activities.

He added the MMDA is committed to continuing to build and develop parks in open spaces in Metro Manila for public enjoyment.

The pocket park covers an area of 1,133.21 square meters and will include landscaping works, concrete benches with roof sheds, playsets, outdoor gym, and a two-story burial chapel.

“We aim to have this open space used by the people of Marikina to enjoy and relax with their families,” Marikina Mayor Marcelino Teodoro said.
