Las Piñas now has COVID-free village

The Las Piñas City government on Thursday announced it has a village free of the coronavirus disease.

Mayor Imelda Aguilar said Barangay Ilaya has recorded zero cases of COVID-19 because of the comprehensive response enforced by the local government against the deadly disease.

Aguilar reported that six other villages in the city have also recorded lower numbers of active cases. They are Daniel Fajardo and Manuyo Uno, both with one active case, Barangays Talon Dos and Talon Kuatro (two cases), and Barangays Talon Tres and Pilar (three cases).

As of Thursday, Las Pinas has only 101 active cases. Of the 4,533 confirmed cases, 4,274 have fully recovered, while 178 individuals have died.

Aguilar said her administration, through the Las Piñas City Health Office (LPCHO), continues to combat the spread of the deadly virus with the help of community leaders and the residents’ compliance with health protocols.

The city chief executive continues to appeal to residents to just stay home if they do not have any official business outside.

She said the city government is also continuing its expanded targeted testing at the Ligtas Center located at Daniel Fajardo village to those with symptoms and with possible exposure to patients affected with the virus.

Aguilar said the local government also has a COVID-19 testing-on-wheels as part of efforts to reach out and serve all barangays.
