Standard Insurance leads river cleanup initiative

Standard Insurance Co. Inc.-Technical and Training Center will undertake the cleanup of the Kay Alamang River in Naic, Cavite on March 23, 2024.

The initiative, spearheaded by SICI-TTC general manager Joselito Lazaga, through the health, environment and safety section, is inspired by the vision of Ernesto Echauz, group chairman and rear admiral of the Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary.

With a steadfast commitment to environmental stewardship, Echauz ordered the drafting of a comprehensive five-year plan.

The initiative follows the memorandum of agreement (MOA) uniting the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO), local government units (LGUs)/barangays and the Municipality of Naic under the leadership of Mayor Raffy Dualan.

Recognizing the communal duty to safeguard Philippine waterways, all partners and affiliates of Standard Insurance Co. Inc. embrace the project.

Key stakeholders including MENRO, nine barangays, the 101st Coast Guard Auxiliary, TESDA, partner schools and other organizations and friends also pledged their commitment to restoring the health of the Kay Alamang River.

The cleanup also aims to inspire a broader audience, catalyzing a ripple effect of environmental awareness and action that transcends local boundaries.

The SICI-TTC expects not only the rejuvenation of a crucial water body but also the transformation of mindsets and the emergence of a unified community dedicated to the preservation of our natural resources.

It also encouraged individuals and organizations to join then in making a lasting impact, one cleanup at a time.
