Sandiganbayan tells Revilla to present defense

The Sandiganbayan has given Former Senator Ramon "Bong" Revilla until March 6 to present defense evidence.

This is in connection with the plunder and graft charges he is facing before the anti-graft court.

The camp of Revilla has not presented any defense as it has a separate petition in the Supreme Court (SC) that sought to stop the proceeding at the Sandiganbayan.

The prosecution has finished presenting evidence against the former senator.

But Revilla's counsel, Attorney Estelito Mendoza, believes the prosecution failed to prove the crimes charged beyond reasonable doubt.

Revilla elevated the issue to the SC thinking that he cannot anymore expect due process and fair trial in the anti-graft court.

This was after the Sandiganbayan denied his motion for leave to file demurrer to evidence.

The defense panel hopes the SC will issue a TRO before March 6.
