The Department of Justice (DOJ) is filing in court criminal complaints against 88 persons accused in the deaths of 44 Special Action Force (SAF) commandos of the Philippine National Police (PNP).
The move comes, a year after the so-called SAF 44 were killed in Mamasapano, Maguindanao last year or on January 25, 2015.

DOJ prosecutors are filing direct assault with murder charges against the respondents.
Those who are facing charges are mainly members of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF).
Some of the accused are members of the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF).
The rest of the respondents allegedly belong to some armed groups in Mindanao.
